YOUR FIRST VIDEO · QUICK START GUIDE

A little idea.
A video you can share.

Start with a photo, a short video or an idea. This guide takes you from your first upload to your finished Reel or Short.

Finished videos: 30 seconds · 1 minute · 2 minutesFinished projects: up to 2 minutesYour voice & optional musicBeginner, Novice & Expert help50 industry starting points

Choose how much help you want

Choose Beginner, Novice or Expert in your workspace. The choice is remembered on this browser for this workspace where storage is available. Changing help level keeps your current video; finish any unapplied changes first.

  • Quick mode: Upload a photo. Say what happens. Create your video.
  • Beginner: Teach me as we go. Help prepare my first draft.
  • Novice: Guide me with short tips and useful choices.
  • Expert: Give me the detailed editor and optional help.

Beginner starts with three short stages: choose a starting point, write your own message, then use a relevant shot guide. Prepare my draft applies that wording with a calm, readable treatment. Add your actual sources or explicitly choose AI creation next. Preparing a draft does not generate footage or use allowance.

Choose one useful message

Viewers need to understand the point before they decide to keep watching.

Name your audience and add one detail or example that comes from you.

A useful self-check: You can explain the video in one sentence.

Show something that supports it

Your real work, product or example gives the message meaning.

Choose relevant photos or clips. Keep exact labels, results and prices in your original material or editable wording.

A useful self-check: Each source has a reason to be in the video.

Make it easy to follow

Short, readable wording and clear sound help on a small phone screen.

Keep one main point per scene. Read the words aloud and preview the music with any speech.

A useful self-check: You can read the words and hear the message without rushing.

Review, repair and share

A successful render still needs your judgement about the content.

Play the full video. Use Anti-Slop Check, repair weak scenes and confirm the current edit before exporting.

A useful self-check: You are happy for this video to represent you.

Help level controls the amount of guidance. The step-by-step editor remains available; Expert opens detailed controls after creation. You can also open the existing Expert editor directly.

Use Anti-Slop Check before sharing

In the editor, review specific suggestions with timestamps. Open the affected part, check its context and choose a repair. Required wording and offer dates remain part of the production review.

  1. Play the complete preview and listen to the sound.
  2. Review suggestions about missing media, repeated wording, reading time, configured music level and changes to protected source material.
  3. Where offered, lower the music, show the whole original picture or restore a confirmed scene. These edit fixes use no generation allowance. Review the changed edit again and use Undo if needed.
  4. Confirm details, pictures and sound in Your production brief. Further changes invalidate that review.
  5. Download the current edit check report if useful, then export your video.

The report states its scope and remaining human checks. It is not a certificate of originality, authenticity, factual truth or defect-free pictures. The optional sampled-picture inspection is separate; a pre-export report does not establish that a delivered file has been rendered or decoded.

New AI footage and extra generations remain separate explicit actions with their existing allowance rules. Editing suggestions do not establish that a visual generation deserves a refund.

01

Open your Clip workspace

  1. Open Clip and choose Sign in or Create your account.
  2. Sign in with your VCMP email and password. When signup is open, new users choose Create your account, enter their details and follow the activation email to choose a password.
  3. Read the current terms and privacy information. Continue only if you agree.
  4. The simple creator opens first. Choose Use my photos and clips orGenerate with AI. The ? button opens a quick guide. Choose Guided mode for step-by-step controls orExpert mode for the full editor.

Activation emails can land in junk or spam. Use your newest activation link. An existing VCMP user should sign in before adding a Clip workspace.

02

Add your photos, video or idea

In the simple creator, choose Use my photos and clips orGenerate with AI. Guided mode has a Your media step for photos, videos and presenter recordings.

Use my photos or video

The quickest route to showing your actual business. Choose your files, add one useful message, then arrange their order. A business photo plan can give each scene a purpose.

The simple creator accepts up to five photos or clips: JPEG, PNG or WebP photos below 12 MB each, and compatible MP4, WebM or MOV clips below 50 MB each, with 100 MB combined including logo and music. It keeps original clip sound when selected and does not repeat footage automatically to fill a longer video. Guided mode also accepts compatible MP4, WebM or MOV videos, with up to 12 files below 50 MB each and 100 MB combined.

Generate with AI

Choose Real life or 3D animation. Describe a scene or add one reference photo below 3 MB. AI is available only in enabled workspaces and takes several minutes.

A reference photo guides the generation. Details can change, so use your original media when exact products, faces or premises matter.

In the simple creator, use Earlier, Later orRemove to arrange your sources. For a photo-based advert, open Plan a business advert to enter your exact business details and choose one of fifty business recipes. Pick a goal, confirm the facts and review your scene plan. You can edit wording, choose a photo, framing and movement for each scene, and give the end card more reading time. Then choose Use this plan. This route uses your photos without waiting for AI footage or a story-writing request.

Length suggestions respect the video lengths available in your account. Reading checks and portrait layout guides are approximate; watch the actual editor preview before downloading. The plan keeps your exact service and complete offer conditions. Plans of ten seconds or longer also keep supplied contact details. To change those facts, edit and confirm them above. Copy or save the storyboard text if you need a separate copy. Included music suggestions use industry tags and stay optional.

Your simple creation draft saves its idea, photos, clips, creative direction, sound choices and selected music on this device. Wait for the saved message before leaving. If saving fails, keep the tab and your original files, then chooseRetry saving. Recheck a restored business plan before using it. Device drafts are separate from cloud drafts.

Choose Present it myself to use one video of you speaking. Its original voice is included. Use a recording at least as long as your chosen Clip; shorter recordings need a shorter clip length. Guided photo/video uploads start muted unless you choose original sound; Simple uploads have a separate original-sound choice. Then tap Continue.

03

Choose your look

In Simple, open Make this video yours for a business or creator brief. Add your audience, your own message and a real supporting detail. Choose a natural, graphic or playful direction, then Use these exact words in my video to apply it. The capture guide suggests what to record on your phone. This uses no generation allowance. Visual generation still follows your scene description.

  1. In Your story & style, open Style & branding. Choose Bold promo, Clean & simple, Warm & cinematic or Bright & playful.
  2. Set your brand colour and choose a clean, bold or elegant writing style.
  3. For caption banners, open Expert mode and select a scene. In a Full frame layout, choose text only, brand colour, a soft dark panel or a colour accent. Bold promo uses its own framed layout.
  4. Add your logo if you want one. To choose a corner, move it freely or show it only at the end, open the editor's Brand panel and use Logo placement.
  5. Use the Live style preview and its section selector to check how your words and logo look.

For AI, this is a layout preview. Your generated footage appears after generation. You can position wording and logos more precisely in the full editor.

04

Say one thing clearly

  1. In Your story & style, enter your business name and the next step you want viewers to take.
  2. Choose 30 seconds, 1 minute or 2 minutes for a paid finished video. The free own-media trial offers 15 or 30 seconds; AI samples are 5 seconds. You will see one wording box for every five seconds.
  3. For help getting started, open Help me write my video. Choose a service, offer, introduction or tip; enter your real details and tone. Tap Suggest my script, review the five-second plan, then Use this script & captions. This is a template suggestion, not generated footage, and uses no AI creation allowance.
  4. Edit or clear each box. Keep each message short enough to read on a phone.
  5. For Try AI footage, describe the visual idea in Your story & style. Name the subject, setting, style and camera movement.
  6. Continue to Sound & create. Keep the film silent, record or upload your voiceover, and optionally add separate background music. Review the script before recording.
Example: a café

0–5 seconds: “Your morning, made better.”
5–10 seconds: “Fresh coffee. Find us on the high street.”

AI idea: “A close view of a steaming white coffee cup on a wooden café counter, warm morning light, a gentle camera move.”

Website links and video-to-video AI transformation are not supported in this workflow. Paste the business description instead. With uploads, your own media supplies the visuals; the prompt does not transform that footage into a new AI scene.

Make a video people can hear

Narrate your photos or AI footage

  1. In Sound & create, use the suggested reading script or enter your own. The word count gives a rough reading time; shorten lines that will not fit.
  2. Choose Record my voice and allow microphone access in your browser, or choose Upload voiceover. Only start recording when you are ready to speak.
  3. Read the script. The countdown shows your remaining recording time. Choose Stop & use recording, or let it stop at the clip length. Listen to the recording and use Record again if needed.
  4. Add optional music from the included library. Search or choose a mood, preview a track, then choose Use track. The library includes CC0 recordings, Pulse, Warm and AI-generated Clip instrumentals, with no separate Clip music fee or required credit. Check the selected track's usage note. AI-generated tracks are non-exclusive: do not register the shared soundtrack in Content ID or sell it as a standalone track. A platform may still make a copyright claim, so keep the usage note with your export for review. You can also upload your own music with the necessary rights. With speech, Clip uses a quieter music bed throughout the film. Adjust both volumes in Expert mode's Sound panel.

The microphone turns off when recording stops, is cancelled, or you leave the screen. Leaving the tab cancels an unfinished take and keeps the previous recording. If microphone access is blocked, upload an audio file instead.

A recording longer than the film is cut at the film's end. A shorter voiceover ends naturally; it does not repeat. On-screen wording is your editable five-second text, not automatic speech transcription.

Show a person presenting

Choose Present it myself and upload a video you have permission to use. Clip keeps the picture and original voice together. In Expert mode, select each video section to turn Keep original video sound on or off; trims and cuts also trim that section's sound. A source with no audio remains silent. A separate selected speech recording must contain its original audio track.

You can also import an authorised presenter or avatar MP4 made elsewhere. This release does not generate talking avatars, clone voices or translate speech. Those require a separate generation service.

05

Create and watch the progress

  1. Review the duration, source, sound choice and time estimate.
  2. Confirm that you have permission to use the files, wording, logo and music.
  3. For uploads, tap Create my video. For AI, tap the Create …-second video button and watch the progress.
  4. Keep the tab open while uploading or exporting. Review your finished AI footage before choosing Use this footage or the finishing button shown in your workspace. If importing needs a retry, use the same finished video; keep its saved request rather than generating another copy.
How long does it take?

Upload-based editing targets around 30 seconds to two minutes after upload. Fresh AI footage takes several minutes and may wait for a generator. The estimate is a range, not a guaranteed countdown. Longer films, uploads and busy periods can take more time.

If a request is taking longer, recover or check that request rather than submitting another copy.

06

Preview, then make it yours

Play your film from the beginning. Select a five-second section in the timeline to adjust it.

What you want to changeWhere to look
Wording and when it appearsSelected scene: headline, supporting line and text appearance/disappearance times.
Writing style, banner or animationSelected scene: writing style, caption banner and caption effect, including fade, pop, slide and typewriter.
Text positionSelected scene: choose a position or adjust the custom placement controls.
Logo and brand colourBrand: set the colour, corner/end placement or custom logo position.
Music and voiceSound: record or upload narration separately from music and adjust their volumes. No music removes only the music; remove the voiceover and turn off original video sound for a silent film.
A shorter source segmentSelect a scene, then open Trim & cut this clip. Move the playhead before splitting.
A change you want to reverseUse Undo or Redo.

After changing a finished film, export again to create an updated download. The simple creator offers 30-second, 1-minute and 2-minute paid videos. For longer AI videos, Clip first plans the complete story. Create and review its two or four advancing 30-second sections in order. The preceding ending frame guides the next section, so it does not restart the original opening. Then open the full story in the editor. Progress is saved on this device and completed takes can be recovered without generating again. Expert timelines can run up to 120 seconds (two minutes). You can assemble your own media and shorter AI takes in that timeline. A two-minute finished project is not one continuous two-minute AI generation.

07

Download your finished video

New Simple projects include Your production brief. Watch the full preview, check the details, every picture and the sound, then choose Confirm this edit for export. A further edit needs another review. The business planner's required facts must remain in the wording, and an offer's recheck date must be in the future. Correct the video first, then update its fact record and confirm it. Confirm or discard unfinished detail edits before leaving. To remove a protected fact, untick its wording protection explicitly and review the changed video.

Open Scene purpose, sources and precise repair to explain a scene's contribution, edit that scene, or restore its last confirmed wording and source. Other scenes, music and narration stay in place. Undo can revert the edit. Optional video-source sampling can flag almost-black pictures or very little movement between selected frames; it does not check every frame or certify anatomy, factual accuracy or rights. Keep reviewing the complete video. For realistic generated scenes, check the destination platform's AI disclosure setting.

  1. Review your video in the editor, then choose Export videoand check the export settings. If Guided mode has already opened the export window, review those settings before continuing. After further edits, export again for an updated download.
  2. Wait until the finished video appears. Play it all the way through and check your wording, logo, crops and sound.
  3. Tap the download control to save the MP4. On a phone, check the browser's Downloads or Files location.
  4. Upload that file to YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels or Instagram Reels. Check each platform's crop, captions, sound and cover before posting. Connected publishing, where available, is a separate action that you choose.

Make space in your export library

  1. Open My videos on the Guided home, or My library in the editor. Choose Exports.
  2. Download any finished video you want to keep. Choose Move to Trash to remove its private cloud copy from the active export list.
  3. Open Trash to download or Restore export. This does not permanently delete the video or change its source project.
  4. To remove a saved video copy permanently, choose Delete video, read which copy is selected, then confirm Delete video permanently. Device exports, private cloud exports and generated source footage are separate copies. Deletion cannot be undone. Copies already downloaded or imported into projects remain, and used creation units are not refunded. A running generation must finish before its output can be deleted.

Clip currently allows 100 active private exports and 200 stored exports including Trash per person/workspace. Delete an unwanted saved copy to free a stored space. Moving a local project to Trash is separate from moving its finished cloud video.

08

Understand your AI creation units

Open Account & settings to check your plan, available AI creation units, work in progress and access end date. Existing purchases on older plans keep their video-second allowance. Your available free allowance is shown before you choose paid access. The demo workspace has a separate test allowance.

Monthly planUSD / monthAI units30-second videos1-minute videos2-minute videos
Creator$29121263
Studio$392424126
Pro$493636189

These columns are alternative uses of the same allowance. One new AI take of up to 30 seconds uses 1 unit, including a shorter take or a regeneration. Two 30-second takes use 2 units, and four use 4. Separate photo-animation shots each use a unit. Uploaded footage, editing, wording, colour, logo, music and exports are included with new paid plans. A confirmed technical failure returns its units; an interrupted request may need recovery before its outcome is known.

The US$12 Starter Pass includes 3 AI creation units and 30 days of editor access from payment. The pass expires without renewing. Monthly access renews until cancelled. Three- and six-month options use one payment and a pooled allowance for that purchased period, without automatic renewal. Unused units expire at the period's end. Review the exact total and terms in checkout before paying.

To stop a monthly renewal, open your account, choose Cancel monthly renewal and confirm. Use Payment details & invoices for billing records. A browser payment success screen alone is not proof that the allowance is ready: wait for Payment verified.

If something needs a second try

My upload or export failed

Keep the tab open and read the message. Your choices or saved project should remain available. Try a smaller JPEG/PNG photo or a compatible MP4 if your original codec is unsupported. Export again after the issue is fixed.

Generation is still running or my connection dropped

Return to the same workspace and recover the saved request or check its recent job. Do not start another identical request while the first outcome is unknown. A visible estimate can be exceeded.

The AI result changed my product or looks wrong

Do not publish it. Use your own photo/video for exact business details, or revise the description for another generation. A new successful AI generation uses its own allowance.

I paid but my seconds have not appeared

Reopen the payment confirmation or refresh billing. Do not pay a second time. If it remains unresolved, contact support with the time, plan and checkout reference. Never send a password or full card number.

I need help or want to report tester feedback

Email info@startsimple.cc. Include the device/browser, clip length, the step where it happened and a screenshot of the visible error. For feedback, tell us whether you could create a video without assistance and which step was confusing.
